Something interesting...I was half-watching a bit of a moderately forgettable sci-fi film called Equilibrium on TV tonight. A sort-of Logan's Run scenario, with a bit of Fahrenheit 451 tossed in for seasoning. I looked up at the TV at one point and saw a "gun kata" scene — that's what the characters called it — and I instantly thought "so is this how the Ignatines train?"
It was almost spooky: a lot of the descriptions meshed well with what we've seen of the Ignatines' methods from Geoff Depew's appearances in the CSI:NA stories.
Anyone else seen this film?

In the movie, the gun kata are a rote technique, blind memorization of statistical probabilities; the Ignatine version in UF is a dynamic martial art. In the film, the Grammaton Clerics are merciless, emotionless enforcers of a tyrannical system; in UF, they're warrior monks battling evil. In the movie, "Tetragrammaton" is the name of the oppressive government system; in the film it's the collective name of the four highest-ranking Clerics in the Order of St. Ignatius.
This has been explored in greater depth someplace in the regular UF forum (from before the split) - searching on "grammaton" (and clicking the box for "also search archived topics") in there will get you more info.
