#0, Today's Random Vocaloid Thing

... doesn't actually involve the use of the Vocaloid software at all, but that's OK.

This is a song from (or possibly just about? not sure) a 1920s-cartoons-themed survival horror game called Bendy and the Ink Machine. I don't know a lot more than that about it, but I would just like to note that it's a hella catchy song, and that this particular Miku model is super cute for a dæmoniacal incarnation of vengeful evil. (This is almost certainly one of Koemi Takata's favorite modules.)

Also, as noted in a comment I made on the YouTube page itself, I can't get over how expressive she is. MMD has really come along.

OK, she's not actually singing, which a number of the commenters can't seem to get past, but having attempted it myself, I can say with confidence that Vocaloid is hard, man. I can't blame the person who made the video for deciding that just doing the MMD part was enough work.

Wasn't sure if I should put it here, because Vocaloid/MMD related, or in the RCFR thread because character related, but Youtube gave me this video, which looks like the aftermath of Admiral Kurita trying his nasty little game on a different member of the Fog squadron, only it backfired on him, poi.

"This is probably a stupid question, but . . ."

Hmm! Interestingly, although that's a different character, the voice there is the English pack for Gumi.

As for Yūdachi, I believe you are correct. She'd have had to play along as long as Kongō was in play, but unlike Shimakaze:

a) she wouldn't have seemed to mind at the time, which would've made the whole thing less fun for Kurita (this was, indeed, why he mostly ignored her); and

b) she would be far more dangerous to him now. Shimakaze just wants to stay as far away from him as possible. Yūdachi... Yūdachi would be very much looking forward to see him again.

Once, poi.

They have sent you a letter
"Come back home to play"
But to your dismay
This isn't your day
For the happy fun time has begun to fade
Watch as we reanimate
Our corpses you abandoned
They were dismantled
Or mishandled
But we won't be skipped and swayed

Trapped within these walls
You left our souls to drip away
The ink decays
The walls at bay
But the reckoning has come today
You say
Boris has no guts 'cause you
Replaced it with mechanical strain
We've been tortured
We move forward
This disorder kills your day

I am alive
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight

So you found all the pieces
To initialize the pain
Our venom stains
The night remains
But the ending's always the same
No gain
Nod your head to the beat of death
As you draw your last eternal breath
Sensations
Of an invasion
Start to course right through your veins

You say we have no brains
We're just cartoons for your portrayal
To tell some tale
'Bout a boat and sail
But sure this inevitably unveils the fail
Splashes of eternal hate
Will flood the floor and clean your slate
Now we're tools
And you're the fool
Our nightmare dominates!

I am alive
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must build up our machine
You die tonight

I am alive
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight

I am aware
Your soul is now divine
We care to not toil with unbroken chains
So don't toy with ours
Like he did to our shining stars
So prepare for adventure
We're a whole new creature from the darkest side
You can't take away the pain we feel
Created as monsters to come to life
Come back to life!

So you've come to the ending
Alive but dead inside
The heart beats loud
You've joined our crowd
We are but punished serpentines
Your life with him was fun
But now the terror's just begun
So come with me
And you will see
We're newborn cyanide!

I am alive
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must build up our machine
You die tonight

I am alive
Immortalized
You're the creator
You traitor
Hey
There's no vaccine
To cure our dirty needs
For now you must build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight
Tonight
Build up our machine
You die tonight

Related: All Eyes On Me
Same game, different character (Alice Angel), fantastic vocal performance and some nice MMD animation.

One of my favorite live concert clips: In which Miku and Gumi team up for a remix of "Hibikase" and "Echo", from the 2015 NicoNico Music Party concert.

Amusingly, I first saw this long after I wrote the scene in Vocaloid Variations where the narrator notes that Miku dislikes appearing on 2D screens.

In recognition/celebration of the song's tenth anniversary, Crusher has released a new remix of "ECHO".

EDIT: Oops, meant this to be a top-level reply. Oh well!

In which a couple of adorable young persons do some baller choreography to Giga-P's equally baller track about the Kagamine twins coming of age.

Pretty nice. Maybe my... third favorite version? Tentatively.
