I imagined the future meeting between Gryphon and Sakuya (his second, her first), where he asks, "Where do you keep all those knives?" She explains that she's looping a half-dozen knives, and he looks at her like she's insane.

One visit to Andrew Petrarca and seventy-two hours later, she has sheaths that produce knives the way Gryphon's pistols produced bullets, and the knives teleport themselves back.

Magical sheaths that access the Plane of Metal to create throwing knives do make more sense, though.
