Indeed, I could see it—in her other Fancy Outfit, more likely, but complete with Meiling standing there next to her chair like some kind of bodyguard, just for the effect—if she had to welcome someone she didn't really like the idea of having in her house, and wished to establish the proper mood.*

(Bunny Sakuya, less so. :)

In the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film that came out around the same time as this picture's dated, the Knave of Hearts wears a patch on his left eye. I don't know if that, in turn, is ever explained, since I haven't seen the film, but I'm guessing that's what it's in reference to.
