Musically inclined and apparently left-handed, which is interesting (assuming it's not just an artist error). Not many left-handed violinists out there.

Well, you know how fanon is; one artist does it, and then they're all doing it. :)

In my case, the choice of instruments they've been seen with has largely been to facilitate the way the scenes are set up (and Remilia is a multi-instrumentalist anyway, just because of how long she was at it before she gave it up). In particular, I made Flan a harpsichordist/pianist for a very specific reason that we'll see in 2/5 (which has been slower going than usual for this project because hoooly shit this past week; I hope it's not part of a general loss of momentum, but it's October, so that wouldn't be a shock :/ ).
