A conversation in the studio has just reminded me that I don't think I ever mentioned this in, e.g., the Symphony or CSI:NA annotations, so:

The International Police Headquarters building in New Avalon, which has featured in a good many Future Imperfect-era stories, is essentially a 39-story version of the Industrial Trust Tower in Providence, Rhode Island - it has four steps to the real building's three and a commensurately larger sidewalk footprint, but looks otherwise the same. This is for no more involved reason than that's my favorite Art Deco building, but I wanted it to be a bit taller. It's still quite a small building by New Avalon standards, particularly since it stands right bang in the middle of City Center, across the street from the 431-story Entire State Building - though as noted in a couple of places, it does have quite a lot of basements.

(Also, the Anthony E. Stark Tower in Bubblegum Crisis: The Iron Age is the same building as IPO Headquarters, at least on the outside. In both cases the boss's office is on the 38th floor, with living quarters - in UF Gryphon's case, very seldom used - on the 39th.)

It seems fitting that the IPO is headquartered in the Superman Building....

<snrk> Anyone else think for a moment one of the gang here had a hand in phrasing the end of the last sentence in the "History" section of that wiki page?
