Oh God, it was me. I was the grognard all along.

I'd laugh, except one of my favorite video game series spawned Blasto the Hanar Spectre. Started out as a joke character on the Bioware forums, got promoted to an actual (unseen) character in the second game, shows up again in the third game (again unseen), and finally got his only onscreen performance in the final DLC.

Update on this topic: An unscientific survey of K-On! fan art over the last few days indicates that their equivalent may be Himeko Tachibana, who sits next to Yui in homeroom and... that's about it. :)
