This reminds me of the bit in A Study in Scarlet where Watson runs down a list of what Sherlock Holmes does and does not know, and finds out that Holmes not only doesn't know about heliocentrism, but also doesn't care.

"But the Solar System!" I protested.

"What the deuce is it to me?" he interrupted impatiently. "You say that we go round the sun. If we went round the moon it would not make a pennyworth of difference to me or to my work."
