[48] The krogan homeworld. The beasts in question are called varren.

[107] There are two possible explanations for the fact that both of my favorite firefights in this story happen almost entirely off-screen (this one, and Kei's battle with the Blue Suns in the previous episode): either I'm learning to appreciate the value of implication and leaving things to the reader's imagination, or I'm just getting lazy. Regardless, I love this image - Mordin suddenly changing from cheerful country doctor to Chow Yun-Fat's character from The Killer.

[209] Cyclone Scott Bernard! Everybody drink!

[348] The Federation Celestial Survey Bureau is basically the UFP's equivalent of something like the U.S. Geodetic Survey, responsible for mapping the galaxy. It, and Salusia's Royal Astrographic Society, have a reciprocal arrangement whereby any claim of discovery made to one is recognized by the other.

[606] Mordin clearly has great admiration for Dr. Sagan, though it's not clear whether they've actually met. They work in rather different fields, after all.

Oh, I can think of billions and billions of things Carl Sagan would do.
