This tallies with the original mention of the weapon, in S4M4 Hunter Rose:

Neal Krummell sat at the kitchenette table, running a cleaning
swab through the barrel of his dismantled sidearm. As he did so,
radiating clear ill-temper waves, Gunnr Brynjelfr slid into the chair
across the corner from him.
"Hey," she said.
"Hey," Krummell grunted.
"Is that an A&K Mark 23?" she asked. Krummell nodded.
"Sweet. I always wanted one of those, but they only make 'em for CID
Lensmen. May I?"

>just like only undercover Zardon Detective Judges
>carry the Lawgiver-C

This, however, is wrong. If a Detective Judge took his Lawgiver undercover, he would be committing at least second-degree stupidity in a built-up area. Detective Judges carry the Lawgiver-C because they operate in plainclothes and the standard Lawgiver is enormous, but having a concealed carry requirement - i.e., not wanting anyone to be able to tell you're a cop at a glance - isn't quite the same thing as being undercover.

Also, at this point I am about >< that far from overturning the table in a fit of Hitlerian pique and screaming, "NEVER MIND ABOUT THE GODDAMNED GUN!" It was really not supposed to be the only thing in the story anybody gave any thought to. :)
