Geoff's idea, those two, devised when I put Wally on the roster for Last Transport. And a good one, too - I've always had a little bit of a soft spot for Captain Cold since his cameo appearance as the guy Mark Shaw's been hired to punch out in the first issue of the '80s Manhunter series. ("Did you know Captain Cold is a Cubs fan? It's true!")

In fairness, such things are frequently attempted in mainstream comics. The problem generally is that the next writer to come along turns out to have always preferred the villain turned around by his predecessor as a villain, and turns him back. Sometimes that even happens to characters who weren't villains, but used the same "brand" - I mean, Phil Urich's Green Goblin was a hero from Day 1 and they still turned him into the new Hobgoblin.

(I will admit, the scene in which Phil becomes the new Hobgoblin is pretty hilarious, but still, that kind of generally ticks me off. I liked Heroic Green Goblin and his mother of all uphill PR battles. :)
