Here's another layer for you:

Reading this post earlier, I had the nagging thought that I had borrowed that line, or at least the spirit of that line, from somewhere, but I couldn't remember where. And then a little while ago, while I was looking for something else, I found it. It's from a Flash story arc called Dead Heat, from back in the Mark Waid era. In it, the Flash and company are targeted by a fanatically deranged new speedster called Savitar, who wants to kill off or depower all the other speedsters so he can tap into enough power to become One With The Speed Force. Having accidentally done that himself and barely made it back, Wally spends a lot of that time trying in vain to convince the guy that this is something you really, really don't want to do, until he's has had enough of this bullshit and decides to just lead him to the light barrier personally. The line he utters when he finally makes this decision is,

"You want to see God? Fine. I'll drive."
