I like to think of old No. 182 (Don's Type 66) as having an attitude toward operator folly similar to that of the old UNIX tools, like the original mail program. mail wouldn't stop you from doing patently stupid things like sending a message with a blank subject header and absolutely nothing in the body; it would just toss back a nonchalant

no subject, no message; hope that's ok

while sending the message. It wanted you to know that what you just did was probably dumb, but since it was what you asked for, you still got it done without argument.

Similarly, if someone wants to start throwing regeneration energy around Medbay 1 despite the absence of any detectable medical emergency, hey, that's not the TARDIS's problem. :)
