In his most recent YouTube video, Nicholas "The Chieftain" Moran examines the T1E2 light tank, which was the immediate predecessor to the T1E3 used by Nora and Nicki in this story's flashback scene.

The T1E2 and T1E3 were both improvements of the T1E1 design; the T1E2 was built from scratch, while the T1E3 was a rebuilt T1E1 incorporating some of the improvements devised for the T1E2. Apart from slightly different hull dimensions and transmission gearing, the main difference between them (as far as I've been able to work out) is that the T1E3 had sprung suspension. They had the same gun and weight of armor, and we may assume the interior arrangements were pretty much the same.

Chieftain goes inside at 14:02. The tank is a largely unrestored museum piece that sat outdoors for decades, so the interior is considerably dilapidated and the gun is missing, but it gives you an idea. With the fuel tanks mounted on the sides and the engine directly in front of the driver, it's no wonder that a single round of live, non-AS antitank ammunition instantly turned Nora and Nicki's T1 into a fireball.
