- I have wanted to use the central gag of this episode—someone receiving a tank in the mail, complete and operational in a huge box full of packing peanuts—in a story since, I'm not even kidding, nineteen eighty-six. But for whatever reason, it never happened in print until now (although it did happen in an RPG campaign, a couple of years after I initially thought of it; the tank in that instance was an M1A1 Abrams, and the scenario was more like a riff on my favorite Heinlein juvie novel, Have Space Suit, Will Travel).

(Hmm. Have Panzer, Will Travel.)

- I wasn't consciously thinking about it at the time, but in hindsight, I'd say Nora's design owes something to Will Smith's character, Det. Del Spooner, from the 2004 I, Robot movie, on top of the obvious callout to The Six Million Dollar Man. Her reconstruction was more extensive than Spooner's, more along the lines of Steve Austin's, but the tech level and the way that it's integrated (and concealed) is more like Spooner's in my head.

- Holy shit, that movie is 14 years old??

- Don't worry. We haven't forgotten about Reizei.
