I'm not sure if her place of origin is literally the Moon, to the extent that the Apollo astronauts could have made contact if they landed in the right place, or a Dìqiú-style spirit realm/dreamworld kind of place that has the Moon as its focal point in this reality. Weirdly enough, the latter would actually make more sense, story-wise.

Even if the above is true, that's probably still the case. Even if the Lunarians don't literally live on the nothing-here-but-dust-and-vacuum Moon, if it's the anchor of their spirit realm in this world, they're going to be particular about what happens to it.
