1) I was briefly tempted to do up temporary versions of the Guild's deceased members, take screenshots of them, and convert them to greyscale, but I decided against it for a couple of reasons:

a) Couldn't be arsed
b) Can't do Lady Freedom right, since there are no single pistols in the game, no M1911A1 model, and no holsters in the costume tool
c) Everybody who plays the game knows what Atlas looked like anyway
d) Unable to get a look for the Scarlet Sultan that I was at all satisfied with

(That last, by the by, is also why there is no modern-day Scarlet Sultan in my arsenal. Pantheon. Whatever you want to call it.)

2) Yes, the Phantom Dynamo is Nikola Tesla. He even resembles somewhat the version who briefly appears as a proto-superhero in Fraction and Sanders's Five Fists of Science.

3) Doc Cyclone's having been born in British Ceylon (modern-day Sri Lanka) was partly inspired by William C. Minor, MD, the insane surgeon who features heavily in Simon Winchester's book The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary. Minor was an American born to missionaries from New England, and Doc Cyclone is obviously not (the same kind of) mad, but the bits in Winchester's book about the vividness of Minor's early upbringing in Ceylon struck me as an appropriate background for a man who went on to be all that Cornelius Cyclone has been in his life.

4) The thing about Captain Photon having to change his name is true. Hey, I didn't know there was an NPC named Positron. I'd never been to Steel Canyon when I made him.

For the historically curious, here is what Captain Positron looked like when he first arrived in the city:

That costume eventually evolved into one that Cap still wears from time to time (the action figure is called "Battle Harness Captain Photon"). He didn't wear the gas mask because he was worried about poison gas, particularly, but because he needed a disguise back in the day and surplus Israeli gas masks were $5 at the Army-Navy store in Bangor. :)

5) I once tried to take Prof out of his containment suit, but for some reason he just didn't work for me that way, so I put him back. Again, the resemblance to Positron is primarily a coincidence (fueled by the fact that it's a fairly common SF/superhero trope).

6) Norma would file for a decent superhero name now, but the only one she likes is taken, so she said the hell with it.

7) Sadly, all of a character's costumes have to go on the same basic body model, so we won't ever see what Carol Wright actually looks like when she's not wearing the B-36 armor.
