Magic-origin Dark Melee/Dark Armor Scrapper - the same as the original Midnight Call, who passed on to her his knowledge of the Way of the Shadow Sentinel when he took her in. The basic idea was to distance herself from technology as much as possible. You might call it a condition of her "parole".

Officially, Jen Rossum is still wanted for a laundry list of crimes, and there is no documented connection between that missing fugitive and Jen "Midnight Call" Hudson. Unofficially, someone in a position of reasonable prominence must have connived in the fabrication of Jen Hudson's FBSA records, since no such person existed before last fall. Jen's extended network of friends and friends-of-friends leads to a number of distinct possibilities there, but I won't bore you with the convoluted details except to say that it's really possible to build up an interlinked backstory for a couple-three dozen characters that ends up feeling a lot like a real comics continuity, for good or ill. :)

As it happens, there is a villainous doppelgänger of Captain Photon at large in the Etoiles, a most unpleasant chap called Captain Phobos. He's not from Praetorian Earth, though; he's from the Council Empire. He was sent to Primal Earth on a mission to capture an escaped test subject from a Nictus fusion experiment and had the misfortune of running afoul of the Vindicators and getting tossed in the Zig on his first attempt.
