With the recent introduction of server transfers, I find myself considering the possibility that Tesla's machine didn't simply duplicate Jen, but instead bifurcated the timestream, creating one universe in which, from Jen's perspective, it worked as expected, and one in which it just made a lot of noise and then broke down.

As such, the two may never be aware of each other, because it's not as if (for example) the Paragon Times on Virtue covers the doings of villains over on Victory, or vice versa.

Also, I realized the other day that the dark scrapper experience wasn't doing it for me, so I exercised every comics creator's God-given right to retcon and redesigned the hero version of Jen entirely:

As you can see, rather than learning sorcery from Ray Thornton, she instead futzed around with some stuff in his basement and came up with a Captain Photon-esque (except it actually does something) "battle harness" type thing. While I'm sure she's smart enough to make the jump from technology to magic, this is a bit more in keeping with her personality.

The story of how she acquired the pardon necessary to register as a hero under her own name is worth telling, and perhaps one day I'll do so. Perhaps even one day soon. I just have to figure it out for myself first. :)

(Midnight Call does still exist - one hates to delete a character one's dragged all the way to level 20, however little one finds her power sets stimulating, after all - so perhaps the machine fragmented her timestream even further. I'm sure in the DC universe this would precipitate a Crisis of some sort.)
