So during the 3rd annual Tennocon (official Warframe 1-day convention) yesterday, they showed off Vallis, the second open-world map they plan to add to the game later this year. New enemies, mechanics, hoverboards, etc. Then, at the end of that, instead of fading to black to go back to the developers on stage, they give us this:

Wow. Maybe some day I'll be able to play again. (Given how the video of the Tenno boarder was freezing in places, the demand for computing power hasn't gone down.)

What they showed is a very early build without the kind of optimization work that goes into the released products. In practice, Warframe doesn't need a beefy rig to run. I get reasonable frame rates (30-45) on my Surface Pro albeit at half by half native resolution and the eye candy turned down, and they showed a build of the game running on Nintendo Switch earlier in the evening.

Hmm. So maybe if I turn the quality way down, I can get it to run again. All I know is that somewhere along the way, it got to where I had significant lag in the Liset, and actual combat was just impossible.
