Captain America believes the young people like it when he gets down verbally, as it were.

He also stands like Zoner. Who knew?

(Seriously, Zoner used to stand like this all the time. He actually got told off for it at the company we worked for in California, because the walls in the office complex were white, and after a while you could tell all the spots around the office where he had a habit of standing to talk to people.)

The Dramatic Slo-Mo Hero Walk to the portal before missions kind of loses something when one of the squad is just Eddie derping along in his street clothes.

Hunter asks the tough questions...

... and Logan answers them.

The Humility of Blade

Hunter hasn't quite mastered superhero smacktalk yet. But she's trying!

I kind of like Hunter's new ink. Unfortunately I can't keep it, because it's not really an in-game skin, it's just my computer wanting a nap. I think maybe the cooling in this here gaming laptop isn't quite as efficient as it could be.

Not only do I have to, because we're not made of bandwidth here in the woods and it's a goddam 16-gigabyte download for some reason, but also, I'm not really more than vaguely interested. Yeah, when I got the season pass, Morbius was the one guy I said to myself, 'I'm buying this despite him.'

Comically, since I'm in New Game+ mode, he actually shows up around the Abbey despite my not actually having met him yet. Can't even talk to him.

OK, having played his introductory mission, I'll be fair and say he's not as annoying as I was afraid he'd be. I mean, he irritates Blade, so he can't be all bad. And his starting cards are pretty good.

Spider-Man comes across as the keeper of a no-kill villain shelter in this game, though. First Eddie, now Morbius, Pete's the guy who's like "C'mon, Hunter, he's really an OK guy, give him a chance. He probably won't eat all of our faces in our sleep."

Oh yeah, speaking of Eddie, I've been meaning to post for a while now and say that whoever cast his voice actor nailed it. He's a funny guy.

Alas, no soap. Wanda's not sitting close enough to the door for the "E to talk" thing to light up, even with Hunter running in place against the door. Also, disappointingly, she refuses to use the "open doors" power word, mumbling something about respecting people's space. :)

This seems to trigger after a certain number of KOs-by-any-drop; I think I got mine for knocking a random Hydra goon off a roof. Which is also deeply satisfying, but not as poetic as hurling a mystic into her own gateway to Azathoth.

Sara can be likeable, she just usually chooses not to be. Her interactions with Logan, for instance, show a more human side, because she's canny enough to accept that he ain't got time for her nonsense.

Yeah, I just went through this scene the other night myself, and picked the same option. In fairness, the two groups -do- need to trust and work with each other a lot more. But more mea culpa from Sara would have been nice.

Honestly, Caretaker, Tony and Strange need to pull their heads in. Carol had some teething issues, but she's doing okay, and Steve had no problems from the word go. The Midnight Suns are launching their own operations because they think those three don't trust them enough to even keep them updated. And they're right.

INTERIOR, DAY. THE ABBEY. THE HUNTER emerges from her bedroom, yawning. She's dressed in disreputable cargo pants, PF Flyers, and an Empire State University hoodie she stole from Peter after an unspecified hangout that may have involved Agatha's cauldron and an escalating series of mushroom-related dares.

Looking like she's still getting her neurons together, she jogs into the Common Room, bound for the Forge as usual, not noticing at first that ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE is standing around in the space between the bar and the comfy furniture.

ROBBIE
... saying it's not natural. All of us having exactly the same dream? C'mon.

The conversation comes to a crashing halt as everyone notices THE HUNTER and turns to stare at her. She pulls up short as she belatedly notices them... and that they're all staring at her.

THE HUNTER
... What?

CAROL
You had the dream too, right?

THE HUNTER
(confused)
What dream?

NICO
The dream! The one we all had!

THE HUNTER
Was it the one where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?

NICO
(nonplussed)
No!

THE HUNTER
(perplexed)
Why am I the only person who has that dream?

I read some of the earliest reviews when I was considering whether to buy a console copy for my friend for Christmas. They were getting 1 star reviews from people who bought the game thinking the gameplay was more of a beat-em-up like Arkham Knight or Spiderman.

I'm not saying it deserves 5 stars all the way down, but it's worth remembering it did get trashed for being different.

Bunch of 1-star reviews because it isn't the game that they didn't advertise? That makes no sense at all.

Back in the day, we in the studio used to call that kind of thing "looking for meat in the produce aisle." It's a kindred mentality to the one that causes people to leave one-star reviews on the jungle website for books because the shipping got screwed up, as if that had anything whatsoever to do with the book.

I think people had some weird expectations for the writing, and slammed it for one reason or another. Not remembering that comics were always cringe.

Either way, it's 11 in the morning, I only just woke up after mainlining this thing until 6am ... I'm just glad I'm off work for two weeks.

Safe to say it got the addictive gameplay loop down, and there's enough challenge if you keep increasing the difficulty to keep things interesting as you learn to break it over your knee.

I'm just hoping we get a Vampire-Jubilee DLC at some point.

Also, I'm kind of SOL because I bought just the base game (not being sure I'd like it), and the DLCs by themselves are specifically NOT on sale-- just the big game bundles. So if I want one or more DLCs, I'll end up paying more than I did for the actual game. Which I kind of resent.

You are aware that Steam will subtract the cost of games and/or DLCs you already own from bundles? Haven't actually bought the MMS pack yet, but I would presume the same thing happens there.

I thought that! But I started the process (put it into my cart), and it was still showing the full price. Maybe something went wrong; I can try again.

Nope. Tried to buy the Legendary Edition, and was told "Your account already owns some of the above items, so you can't purchase them again." I want the season pass right now, I'm paying another $50.

... just got done with the belltower, and dammit, I didn't think to take a screenshot, but ... well, there's Peter, Doc Strange and the Hunter coming back form successfully jabbing Demon!Venom with the supernatural equivalent of a Horse Tranq, and everybody is being very enthusiastic about congratulating them.

Especially Carol, who, for some reason, shows up in her swimsuit.

I mean, okay, you do you Captain Ma'am-vell, but you're sending so many mixed messages here I'm no longer surprised Blade is having such a tough time dealing with them all.

Well, you know how it is, you're lounging poolside, and then word starts going around that the crew's back from their mission ahead of when you expected them—you can either go change and risk showing up late and looking like you're not really that excited, or...

That rather tracks, yes.

Also ... I haven't even unlocked the Venom recruitment mission yet, but my OCD compelled me to visit every nook and cranny of the Abbey and at this point I'm pretty sure I've completed multiple collections and all the trials ...

... if someone turned me into a vampire, I suspect I would totally be the type to compulsively count whatever you spilled in front of him.

"Hunter, you have to promise me that Caretaker won't find out what we're doing."

"Let us be honest with ourselves, it doesn't matter what I do. Sara will appear at the worst possible moment and cause a (cut)scene regardless."

"You are lucky we are not allowed to take your life!"

"Um. Ilya? You just launched that Hydra agent through a corrosive limbo portal, out into a chasm that I'm pretty sure is what Tony referred to as an OSHA violation. I've been stabbing them pretty thoroughly. And _Robbie has literally been sending them to hell_."

"What is your point, Hunter?"

"I'm fairly certain we've been killing quite a number of people."

"That is ridiculous, there was no cold dead hand of Stalin reaching out hungering for dissidents."

"Is different, that was in cutscene. Is whole different game in cutscene, you know this."
