#0, General whine about game companies...

Yeah, this isn't really related to games, per se. But, still annoys me and ranting and, and, and. So. While, on the one hand, the much popular(apparently) new hotness Payday 3 released the other day. Now, normally, this isn't really my cup of tea, but a friend likes the previous ones, this one has crossplay(he's on the crossbox) letting us actually play together for a change, and I got it for cheaper. All of which conspired to make me get it. After an inordinate amount of faff for us both(needing a third-party account, installs that derped, etc), we got it up and running on both sides. Went through the tutorials, and thought, "Right! Here we go!"...and then proceeded to not. Go, that is. It turns out that, you have to "matchmake" No matter how you want to play. Which makes absolutely NO sense to me. Obviously, if you want to "public play", you have to get a group made up. Which is fine. But why would you want, or NEED, to do so when you're setting up "friends only". Get your friends in a group, click "GO!" and get to heisting! But no. Must matchmake. Even if you set it up for "By invitation" so you can play alone(apparently good for stealthing your way through) must "matchmake". Which is plain idiotic. But, of course, that isn't the end of the fun and(not) games. Oh, no. Because having to matchmake online only really works, stupid as it is, if you can, well, matchmake. And that didn't work out all that well. Having tried multiple times, with nothing working, I finally set up a private game, just me, and clicked "start"...and then left it to see how long it would take. At 15 minutes, I gave up. I read fun stories on Reddit and elsewhere where people had been waiting for 2 hours. Company representatives had sworn high and low that, there would absolutely not be any issues with the servers. They had stress tests. They even had a 3 day period where pre-orders could play the game. And on the day? They could support they players. I gave up, went to bed, and then came back to make a test thus morning. And, I did get into a game lobby when starting a private game with just me....but it still took between 60 and 90 seconds. That's STILL just crap in my opinion. So, yeah, there's my rant on how game companies seem to think being stupid and inconsiderate is the new normal. My suggestion if anyone is actually interested in Payday is, wait 3 months. It might at least be stable, and you might get a sale. ...!
