#0, Is the gaming market reaching some sort of saturation?

Because, I'm starting to think it is. The reason I ask, and the reason I think so, is that I've been seeing quite a few AA and AAA games going on large-number sales in very short order. One example is Marvel Midnight Suns, as I mentioned here under that games post. It went on 50% sale within 3 months of release, before all the DLCs were even released. This is a game with a massive IP, Marvel, and the studio that made Civilization and XCom, and which had 80% positive reviews on Steam. Another is Jagged Alliance 3, which I was told about today. Ok, not as big as Midnight Suns, perhaps, but something that's been REALLY awaited by a lot of old-school gamers(like me), who remember 1 and 2. It's two and a half months old, it's got a solid 60% positive, and is now on 34% sale. And there are several more I can think of. Are we getting too many games too fast these days, and so the companies drop the prices fast to hopefully stay competitive, or is there something else going on? ...! It's possible. I am certain that there are so many games coming out that I can't triage effectively. Is this a Must Buy, a Might Buy, a Won't Buy, or an AW HELL NO? I could do that when I was cruising the shelves at Gamestop. Scanning the godzillion titles on Steam, OTOH... Peter Eng -- Insert humorous comment here.

It goes in cycles. There was a glut that killed the industry in the late 70s, and bargain bin shovelware reached a high point in the 90s and early 00s.But this one feels worse because we're older. We neither have our parents buying stuff nor large amounts of disposable income from not having responsibilities. We have less time, less energy, less hand-eye coordination. Even figuring out what to buy and play is an onerous task. My recommendation is to play more Indie games.
