So, as part of the current revival era of the franchise, the new Mechwarrior game takes us back to the golden age of the Clan Invasion, when the 80s energy was at peak. And now, for what I believe is the first time, we play as the heroes! Clan Smoke Jaguar have arrived to save the Inner Sphere from the (deleted) regime of House Kurita and the other Scavenger Lords What? Why are you looking at me like that? The Jaguars are the heroes, right? Look at all their heroic one-liners like "fire everything!" or "No more tricks, no more lies!" Surely they are going to be a major force for good in... Oh. Oh dear. So, has anyone else been enjoying this?

Hey, if there's anyone the Clans can legitimately claim to be better then, it's the Combine. Take pride in not tripping over the buried bar, clan warriors! It's not the first time though. Mechwarrior 2 had you playing as the Drawn-By-Liefield 'supersoldiers' as well. Matrix Dragon, J. Random Nutter

You were at least a Jade Falcon, Wolf, or Ghost Bear back then, rather than the foggy kittens. I can't wait for newbies to have a 'Are we the baddies?' moment. :)

Admittedly, the Mechwarrior games aren't my jam and I haven't been following 5 Clans, but I am curious as to where the protag's story goes given the consequences of the Turtle Bay massacre.

That is in fact a very major event in the protagonist's story, and his response to it define how the game ends.
