#0, For those of you who liked Wing Commander: Privateer

It's not new (5 years old), but I just recently found Rebel Galaxy Outlaw (was cheap on sale and looked interesting, and I needed a new space sim to play) and it's most definitely not only a spiritual successor to WC: Privateer with its gameplay, but has many callbacks to the original game in terms of naming things and the like. Unfortunately it wasn't well received initially for various reasons (including a significant change to gameplay from the previous game, Rebel Galaxy, which is more like boats in space) which led to the lead developer not just leaving the studio, but game development altogether, so it apparently didn't get a bunch of features it was supposed to, but while I've barely scratched the storyline I'm having a blast doing missions and trading for credits to upgrade my ship. :)

Anyway, I know the various WC games influenced UF (at least the early ones), so I figured I'd point people at something that feels a lot like one of those.

Oh yeah!

I picked up RGO a while back, played the tutorial and a few missions, and kinda forgot about it. (I want to say this is about when the HBS Battletech game came out, and well....yeah.)

Absolutely recommend the game. It's a hoot!

Thanks for the recommend! Turns out I have an old humble bundle key for it from somewhere, so that's just been redeemed. One more game on the pile!

I'm up to....2,597 games.

Anybody want to buy a steam account? It's worth like thirty grand.
