I think, from perusal of the Kickstarter page and chasing down various other bits scattered on Reddit and such, that the rogue-like element is supposed to be the solo adventure exploration nature of the game, plus the dying.Which, well, I mean, I dunno about you guys, but I died a LOT playing Nethack.
I do kind of like the idea that you don't have to start completely from scratch every flippin' time you fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova. Though I'm almost getting vibes of Paranoia from how they're describing it, there.
