I wish the game would offer more dialogue options in which you can really lean on your pre-War veteran status. Here's how the meeting at Cambridge PD went down in my head:

(a touch frostily)
Major General Daniel J. Hudson. Third Infantry, XVIII Airborne, United States Army. I came in response to your distress call... civilian.

And you can assume that things kind of went downhill from there.
