Most of the issues with pacing and tangents in the early Symphonies came from the fact that we had a larger crew in those days, and I've always been bad at saying no to people's ideas for subplots and side characters. (To be fair, no worse at it than saying no to my own.) Everything went in, and as a result, everything tended to go on a bit.

Indeed. It was also bad timing, and I don't think it's too unfair to say that Mme. Serreau could have set the stage a bit better. But then, she was under a lot of stress as well.

It's come up a couple of times, although this is the first time we've seen her use it (though it's implied that she did in Sea Trials, to let G know that the business with the government was turning out favorably before he had a chance to see it in the newspaper).

I'm looking forward to doing that bit, as well. Remi's brief visit to Saint-Ulrich is one of my favorite bits of GG2, in terms of how much fun it was to come up with.

Thanks! I sometimes find myself, in dark corners of the day, wondering why I'm still doing this after all these years, and, well, "people are still enjoying it" is not quite all of it, but it's a big part.
