I'm not sure why, but this post reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask. If it's been asked before and I missed it, my apologies.

Actually, it's a set of related questions, I suppose.

Anyway! What I was wondering is, of your collection, how many would you say you actively shoot, vs. how many are there just because you like collecting them? (I'm not criticizing, I'd like to be able to collect 'em myself, even if they never fired)

And, building on that, when you do put in range time on a weapon, is it mostly fun factor or is there some goal you're trying to achieve that makes you choose that weapon over another? I presume you don't just pick randomly (I might be wrong! :D ) because... well, at least for me, some guns are just not fun to fire. For example, I dislike most revolvers -- I dunno why -- so if I'm going to a range for fun I'll avoid those, but if I'm at the range teaching firearm safety or something then it's a whole different thing.

I also wouldn't pick randomly because all ammo is not created equal, but that's a given -- and sufficiently high fun factor would trump per-shot cost, anyway. Sometimes. :D
