René Auberjonois—presumably best known in these parts for playing Odo on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, although I'm old enough that I first saw him as Clayton on Benson—has died, aged 79. That's a massive bummer all the way around, and a sharp blow to Star Trek fans in particular, coming within a week of the death of D.C. Fontana.

(He also, and I had completely forgotten about this, played Father Mulcahy in the original motion picture version of M*A*S*H.)

I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I never saw him as Odo, having never watched much of ST. But I do remember him as Father Mulcahy, and he will definitely be missed.

And the actor who played the titular "Charlie X", which was DC's first ST screenplay, passed in between DC and Rene

Someone go check 2016 and make sure it's completely shut down and depowered.
