Lex Luthor, Pop-Eye Doyle, Sheriff "Little" Bill, has passed away age 95. A respectable age, and well deserved rest.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Hackman

Based on the fact that Mr. Hackman, his wife, and their dog were all discovered deceased, the current theory based on local weather and tendencies is carbon monoxide poisoning. The actual cause of death has not been released to the public.

All I heard was no one suspected foul play, so, yeah. Natural gas or carbon monoxide. :(

The deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, remain under investigation, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adam Mendoza shared at a press conference Friday afternoon. In a statement, Mendoza stated that both Hackman and Arakawa’s bodies tested negative for carbon monoxide poisoning.

The causes of deaths of actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were revealed by officials on Friday, more than one week after the couple was mysteriously found dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home. Hackman, 95, died of cardiovascular and Alzheimer's disease likely around Feb. 18, about one week after his wife died from a rare syndrome, hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, on about Feb. 11, officials said.

Hell of a way to go, damn.

OK, yeah. Didn't have hantavirus on my bingo card. That's a disease I've learned to associate with unlucky campers and urban explorers, not suburban retirees.

Absolutely. I was reading this yesterday and immensely saddened. The only comfort I can think of is it's possible Gene Hackman had no idea his wife had died. The dog had to have, though. :(
