Grass Wonder, the last surviving member of Japanese horse racing's "Golden Generation" of the late 1990s, died of natural causes at his retirement farm on August 8 (Japan time). Bred in the United States, he was trained and raced his whole career in Japan, being one of a number of foreign-bred horses brought in during that era to spice up Japanese Thoroughbred bloodlines.
