Like with Geega she wants to do new things and no middlemen...also she says she wants to help other smaller vtubers. So..

It seems like the favorable terms that Matara left under, being able to keep everything (including Bricky) in the divorce and remaining on good terms with her former roommates, was the motivating factor in Geega and Zen choosing to part ways as well.

I sort of feel like we're seeing the next evolution of vtubing, moving away from corporations now that the industry is well-established and the strict adherence to the kayfabe that corporate and indie vtubers are two totally different people is shot to shit in the wake of the events of 2024.

I'm pretty surprised by this. I expected her, IronMouse and Melody to be there pretty much forever, so her announcement was a bit of a shock.

Reviewing her announcement, along with Geega and what I could get about Matara's, it makes sense that the rules of VShojo, including things like "the IP belongs to the creator" would allow them to not have go onto the forced graduation-to-rebirth line as Dokibird and Dooby and (presumably) Sameko Saba path, but just make some edits and continue on as before, with more control over their merch(1) and more work as to any promotions(2).

(1) The biggest rumor about Matara's departure was that having Bricky handle her merch was the dealbreaker with VShojo, as they take a percentage of it to handle their costs, along with a percentage of sponsorship money paid.

(2) Geega mentioned that one of the things that VShojo did for her was help her find more sponsorships and promotions, and she'll now have to do that all herself.
