Everyone's favourite independent British VTuber who talks about sharks way too much has finally done a VTubery thing and redebuted with a shiny new model that wasn't a rushed-to-production accidental ace pride flag over which Bin had minimal input. The theme? Well that would be telling, wouldn't it? Watch the vod, it's been four years since the last model debut, she's earned it.

... Given the four-year gap between mainline models, does this make Rin Penrose the anti-IronMouse? More on this as it develops.

Speaking of Mouse, she has mildly traumatised professional DM and guy who dresses like mid-00s fanfic depictions of Professor Snape Matt Mercer. You can find that here! This was a one-shot for charity alongside Bubi, AiCandii, and Alpharad TheOdd1sOut Kairyu Crocodile from Beastiez. Looks like they had a fun time!

Goddamn there's a lot of Vtuber lore jokes in this opening post. I am sure I will regret it immediately. =]

*sigh* I'll admit, I'm gonna miss the old look. It sorta feels like seeing a corpo vtuber you've grown familiar with going back to their indie look (or, in the case of a particular baku nurse, a whole new one).

Seems to be the pattern now: Get driven to the point of physical and/or mental exhaustion, announce your graduation with little warning and even less lead-time, then a new (or old) indie account pops up with a amazingly familiar voice.

And now John VTuber explains the new model.

tl;dw: The debut model was a rush job, various efforts to replace it fell victim to the vicissitudes* of fate, and so now this is the new Rin...but there might be a new one later...in 3 years or so.

*Yes, I used to own a Word-A-Day calendar.

In other news, Offkai has announced that Fansly is sponsoring them, and it feels like a bunch of people have left their brains at home.

Seriously, if I see another person going on about it like they're gonna have the porn out in the open in a 13+ area, I'm gonna lose it. Cons in general and this one in specific have been doing sequestration of 18+ material at non-18+ events for years, they probably have a better grasp of the principles than that.

There's even arguments I could at least grant "I can see where they're coming from" that even without doing that it's not a great idea for Fansly to have a booth in the general area, but no one who seems to hold positions like that ever gets into the meat of it, that's apparently reserved for the crowd screaming about holes showing.

I'm old enough to remember when seeing the 18+ stuff in the open at the dealer's room at A-kon and Katsucon was considered normal, and it was a parent's responsibility to keep the kids away from it (or, you know, not - I know someone whose awakening was looking at a Dark Stalkers doujins). And, you know, some recent absolute bullshit from the FCC makes me look at the whole "keeping the kids safe" Puritanism makes me feel, once again, that there are too many intact kneecaps and/or jawbones amongst the theopolitical class.

Compartmentalizing things like this may be smart, but in another sense it's just giving in to these McJerks and they shouldn't be pre-surrendered to. On the other hand, this means that some people CottontailVA, looking at you will have double the chance to do meet-and-greets.
