On the protocols of being Batman:
"I should be able to use a crowbar, as long as I don't kill anybody."

There used to be a video over at Game Theory* that laid out how Batman's methods of knocking out mooks in the Arkham games means he's wildly violating his "do not kill" rule. That everything from cracking them in the head hard enough to cause instantaneous unconsciousness to hanging them upside down by their ankles would lead to major injuries if not instant death. But hey, it's J. Random Crook, so we don't really notice that Batman may have a body count larger than some of the villains he's fighting.

This reminds me of the website I saw a long time ago that tracked how often Hal Jordan got knocked out in the Silver Age Green Lantern comics. IIRC, their thesis was that Emerald Twilight happened because he had massive personality-altering brain damage from the literally hundreds of times he got coldcocked in his career to that point. :)

Didn't Marvel TV do something similar in the Hawkeye show where they introduced his deafness with a montage of all the explosions going off near Hawkeye in various MCU movies?

FiMFiction.net: we might accept blatant porn involving the cast of My Little Pony but as God is my witness we have standards.

I haven't seen it, but that sounds suitably lampshadey. IIRC, in the comics it was because he had a bad day at the office with a "sonic arrow", but the whole thing has long since been retconned away altogether, so I'm mildly surprised they went with it.

Except when it hasn't. Hawkeyes hearing status really depends on the author. I know it came up again in Matt Fractions run a few years back too.

In IRL news, Doki has been hit with the reality that being your own boss also means being the one responsible for all the paperwork.

Not exactly a quote, but I'm impressed at how she remains smug even in the face of death.
