I mentioned it in passing in the DRG Survivor thread, but the first one to really blow up was HoloCure. This is a Survivors game that added a bunch of other stuff at a meta layer (fishing minigame, house deco, etc). For those who remember the Suika (Watermelon game) craze, there is a holo knockoff. HoloParade is a cute 2D Tower Defense game And as of today you can now wishlist Holo X Break, which looks to be a classic 2D brawler starring Gen 5.

I have been strangely privileged by timing to experience the HoloCure phenomenon from both sides of the fence, as it were. I first encountered it before I knew anything about Hololive, and got to watch as a YouTuber who knew no more about it than I did ("Angory" Tom Clark of the Yogscast) played the game with equal parts pleasure (because it's evidently really fun if you're into that kind of game) and mystification (because it's full of injokes unknown to him). I subsequently discovered Hololive, and then got to watch various holomems who did get the jokes play it and be repeatedly delighted by same. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. LAST EDITED ON May-06-24 AT 10:57 PM (EDT) The neat thing about HoloCure, from a technical perspective, is that they managed to set it up to lag coherently. If you're playing on a decade-old potato PC like mine, the timer slows down to match the pace of actions you can take so you don't get inundated by targets faster than you can possibly handle them; it also doesn't lag the music.Of the Holomems I've played, my favourite is definitely Ina. Picking up a sufficiently large Harmless Takodachi is like a budget version of Mumei's special. Her own special has a ton of knockback, which is very handy for getting a bit of breathing room. Kiara was the one I used to get the "I Don't Need It" achievement (have specials unlocked and beat a stage without using one), though. EDIT: "What does the scouter say about Akirose's power level?" "It's Over Nine Thousand!!!" Yeah. Now that I've put a bit of play time into each currently-released Holomem, I've discovered that I favour characters with some form of "X is also Y" ability a little more esoteric than "healing is also an attack", in addition to a screen-clearing ability. Akirose has "stat debuffs are also an attack"; Sana has "beeg is also damage" (that is, increasing a weapon's size also increases the damage it deals), Roboco-san has "leveling up is also an attack"; Anya Melfissa uses pick-up range as the range of two of her abilities. Honorable mention goes to the item Piki Piki Piman, "max HP is also main weapon and special damage". I also like Kaela just as much, for a completely different reason: her multiple abilities connected to the idea of mining and smithing. Akirose just barely takes first place, because her screen-clearing ability is much more potent than Kaela's.

LAST EDITED ON May-07-24 AT 00:08 AM (EDT) It's been a minute since I've played, (Well before the big update even) but at the time, my favorite may have been Mumei because of Friend and homing feathers~EDIT: Waaaait, I remember playing with Kaela now, so I DID play after the big update~

Friend is definitely great, and if I wasn't so fond of building combos (and Kaela's Material Grind didn't poke me in the RuneScape nostalgia) Mumei might be my favourite. Heck, she even has an "X is also Y" ability herself, though you can't really build combos on it: "number of targets on screen is also an attack buff".

Enhance 35P’s abilities to clear stages easier and increase the number of enemies to achieve high scores. There are many ways to enjoy this game! DUEHOLO > Fight against holo-characters to strengthen your deck and defeat boss holomem! > There will be 8 playable characters (Sakura Miko, Aki Rosenthal, Oozora Subaru, Ookami Mio, Houshou Marine, Tsunomaki Watame, Omaru Polka, Hakui Koyori), one from each gen, who will be your alter egos. Each character has a completely different ability, and the deck must be constructed to match that ability! > Take down 35 holomem (from JP gen 0 to Secret Society holoX), who will appear as the opposing characters!

So in light of Aqua's imminent graduation, I decided to get her Fandom in HoloCure to Gachikoi rank. I managed a few days ago, and actually did it by clearing Stage 3 Hard, the first time I've ever done so. And she's a lot of fun to play! Her "Cleaning Maid" skill boosts pick-up range and crit damage within that range, providing two handy things to focus on for item picks (more pick-up range to expand area of effect, and crit rate so the damage boost applies more often); "Klutz" gives a bonus projectile to multi-shot weapons, making weapon picks easier to decide on.

>>Why is she dust looping > I don't know what that means!Fighting game term originating from Guilty Gear. 'Dust' is one of the command buttons. One of the characters, Sol Badguy, notoriously can perform an infinite combo just by using the Dust command in an air juggle in a certain tempo and way. Koyori in the trailer demonstrates the same with identical animations.
