#0, Shaking Up the Lineup

The last thread was just about full anyway, so I thought I'd make this its own thread:

Since Calli has been talking about how the Myth girls basically got handed their characters and told "this is you now", do you think the assignments in a generation could've been done differently? What I mean is, whose personality would fit with the lore of another character? Obviously, this only really works for generations who have lore, and I'm excluding Advent and Holoh3ro (ID 3) because they had significant involvement in the creation of their characters.

The first one that comes to mind would be swapping Ame and Ina- Ame's gremlin energy could work well with Ina's "eldritch horror" theme, and Ina's calm and dedicated approach to things would make a good detective.

The other main swap that comes to mind would be Kronii <=> Mumei or Mumei <=> Fauna, with Kronii's pridefulness being good as a representative of Civilization, and Mumei's evil side representing the cruel advance of Time. Fauna/Mumei would be having Mumei show "Nature, red in tooth and claw", and Fauna giving us the gentler, nurturing side of Civilization.

I don't really know enough about the other lore-based JP or ID gens to really throw out ideas, other than maybe swapping Chloe and Koyori. Chloe's pon-ness could work for a "mad scientist", and Koyori, well anybody makes a more convincing assassin than Chloe.

Thoughts?

Full disclosure: I have a hard time fully imagining any of these scenarios, not because I don't think it's a good thought experiment, but because my brain apparently cannot swap the characters' faces along with their concepts. Try as I might, I can only envision them as costume swaps. I just can't make Ina's voice come out of the blonde with the monocle.

>Ina's calm and dedicated approach to things would make a good
>detective.

Ina's disinclination to go outside and be subjected to the pitiless stare of the accursèd daystar would make her approach to detection a lot more Nero Wolfe than Sherlock Holmes. She'd solve crimes, but only if they came to her house and stood patiently still to be solved. :)

Reversing Calli and Kiara would be a bit hilarious, in a "why did they think this chirpy Austrian was in any way deathlike?" kind of way.

>Fauna/Mumei would be having Mumei show "Nature,
>red in tooth and claw", and Fauna giving us the gentler, nurturing

Heck, Mumei kind of gives those vibes a lot of the time anyway. If they wanted her to be That Kind of Owl, they should at least have given her a mortarboard. :)

>Thoughts?

I'm not super-familiar with the .jp backstory stuff either, but I will say that swapping Korone and Okayu is funny in my head just based on what I know of their on-screen personalities. :)

Also, my brain flatly refuses to imagine recasting any of the following:

- Gura
- Bae
- IRyS
- Ollie

Especially Ollie. Ollie can only be Ollie.

There is that. I kinda figured the detective business would be a nocturnal pursuit no matter what, but having a "all mysteries, conundrums, and calamities please form an orderly queue and wait to be investigated" sign on the door would be hilarious.

Likewise, the phoenix spitting lyrical fire would be entertaining as hell.

I could see that. Poking around the wiki (because of course there's a wiki, looks like ~3 actually), I think they didn't start doing detailed characterizations until HoloID Gen 1, which was a few months before Myth debuted.

The earlier generations had very simple character concepts. For example, Korone's entire description is "A dog from a bakery in the city. She likes to play games during her free time while watchdogging."

Ollie can only be Ollie. I'd also say IRyS is almost "out of bounds" because she was originally recruited as her own mini-generation, with an emphasis on her singing. I suppose Fauna could pull off the "half-angel" part, but I haven't listened to her sing enough to know if she could fully make the swap.

I originally considered Gura as a potential swap for Ina, to bring that gremlin energy into the eldritch being, but of course Ina could never fill in Gura's shoes. It would have to be a Gura => Ina, Ame => Gura, Ina => Ame rotation if anything.

Lastly, the only possible way I could see Bae being replaced is if Dokibird had actually gotten into Hololive like Mumei thought. I can't think of anybody else who brings the appropriate amount of, well, chaos.

I also have to point out that Ame is ...a touch more observant let's put it.

I love Ina, but she doesn't really come off to me as being of...active intelligence for lack of a better term. . She's quick with the wordplay, but she seems to need some acceleration time for a lot else, to me.

(By contrast, Gura's zips off at full speed...right into a tree.)

Gura does remind me of this at times in streams.

I just wanted to revisit this now that we've had a few months to digest Justice and add:

Gigi can only be Gigi. :)

Amusingly enough, the Council girls had an April Fool's event back in 2022 where they swapped avatars and tried (with varying degrees of success) to mimic each others voices and personalities. And it's almost like a reverse form of Flanderization, as the passage of time has smoothed the rough edges of the characters they were when they started. But that doesn't mean they're any less cringe-inducing than their debut streams.

The April Fools swap was pretty fun, I wonder if Advent will do anything for April Fools, I feel like Biboo/Shiori/Fuwawa could make all sorts of mischief.

Thanks to a rather odd recent stream, at least one artist has considered another possibility.
