"We could make up some rules, if it makes you more comfortable." This reminds me of the Dragnet episode where the guy gets out of jail and immediately does a crime and gets caught on purpose, because he can't handle life on the outside. Joe Friday is... less sympathetic than VShojo's management, but surprisingly humane about it for the lead character of the show that invented "copaganda".

So some sad news, Henya's continuing battle with what sounds like long COVID has forced her to announce she's going on indefinite hiatus. Says she's tried to power through it but things are so bad that she gets winded when walking short distances and is struggling just to get out of bed.

Here's hoping our favorite tea kettle rests properly and recovers fully.

It is my hope when she returns, she will see that someone built a shell over her house in the VShojo MineCraft Server.

Saw that. That's great that she's keeping her persona...and great that she's gonna still keep in touch with the girls in vshojo

Rumor mill is (of course) already active and it seems the current theory is that this was over merch. That 18 months is the pretty typical period between contract negotiations and disputes over the handling and shipping of merch had already been bad enough that she'd turned over such from VShojo to Bricky recently. And without the revenue from such, VShojo's lawyers really have little reason to insist that she graduate rather than keep the IP. Added bonus is she can continue to collab with her friends in VShojo without it being awkward.

To my understanding (and which someone in another forum confirmed for me) VShojo members own their own IP anyway. (I hate that this is not required industry-wide).

Bricky has to something to do with merch? All I know about him is him talking about being "random flesh man" while colabing with vtubers.

Yeah, he's got his own merch thing, and has been doing them for her for a few months now - probably why the decision was made in march to take effect in may.

Matara's been very vocal about how dissatisfied she was with her last two Vshojo merch drops - they've been having a bit of a time of it, I think their old manufacturer/distributor shat the bed to the point some people have been waiting for over a year?

They had a LOT of issues with their previous vendor for the merch store.

Here's their official post on it from 4 months ago.

And merch process notices from their site directly. Now they seem to have a bit more control and visibility on the process, which is good. Even if this is why Matara is departing, they're trying a bit more.
