Myth's 4th Anniversary stream is currently underway here, and features a bit of a Shuffle, with Kiara performing "Chikutaku". (Was "Full Color" a Gura song that never took off?) Now she and Calli are performing "Reflect" as a duet.

I'm watching the VOD now, a bit of a 'live-blog' while I do so~ ReUnite - This is a song I so seldom hear, it's never in the mixes, if there's a Myth song in the mix, it's always Non-Fiction. A shame, this is a pretty good song!
Journey Like a Thousand Years - I don't think I've ever heard this one! I like it! The mix and match section! Starting with Callie singing Gura's Full Color - I've never heard the original, somehow! I never considered Calli as being a good fit for songs in Gura's usual key, but I like the energy she's giving this. She's got such a different vibe than Goobus and a very different breathier singing style. Kiara singing Ame's original Chikutaku is really good! She's got a similar key and register to Ame up around the 'dogs start whining' rangeI'm sorry that's mean Calli and Kiara's Reflect is kinda awesome. Kiara as Gura and Calli as 'Gawr' is a great match. Calli has that aggression that the 'Gawr' section has and Kiara's higher register is much closer to Gura's normal tone - it really makes it feel like Gawr is like, this beast that's inside Gura, like the song kinda implies. (Even if the beast is just her own insecurities.) Oh my gosh, Ina doing Calli's Future Island! Calli's version always seemed a little...'off' is too strong a word. Ina singing it feels right somehow. The ending Japanese rap part aside, I think it's a song that doesn't really fit what Calli's strength is, which is - I keep using this word here - aggressiveness. She tends to sing *hard*, like she's using every word to make a point and trying to hit you with it, and Future Island doesn't quite fit that somehow? Maybe I'm overthinking thinngs. .....Jesus, Gura, I didn't know 'sexy' was a thing she could *do*. The gremlin is so strong that it never occurred to me...aaaand there's the gremlin back! Gura's a real musical mimic, her version of Chimera is just like Kiara's but without the....'hard edges' Kiara's voice has? Does that make sense to anyone else? Oh heck Ame doing Violet. This may be the best choice of songs for her - I haven't seen her do that well outside of her normal register which is...kind of up there. Ina's register is pretty high when she sings too, especially with Violet (and *especially* with Unravel, but that's a cover, not an original. Ooo, triet of End of a Life. I haven't really listened to this one before - heard but not *listened*, you know? I can hear exactly how Callie would be singing it, and I love the difference the triet (Is that actually a word?) makes~ The Show Must Go On is *amazing*! Connect The World! ...Gura's voice sounded *just* like Fauna there That a great concert, I'm gonna have to grab this and the inevitable chopped up songs for my metaphorical mixtapes~

Yeah, it maybe wouldn't have been so bad if Japan hadn't gone into complete Plague Inc style 'SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHING.' mode for a stretch there, but they did, and it delayed Myth's everything by like a year, the poor things. With any luck, the new American studio will keep this sort of thing from happening again. Also the new prevalence of home 3D stuff like Ame's little home studio. Gura seems to be the only one without a home 3D rig at this point, judging by the fact she's still clearly using keyboard and mouse when they're in VRChat :) >>The mix and match section! Three is the odd one out: 2 is "duet", 4 is "quartet", 5 is "quintet", and so on, but 3 is "trio". (I suppose it matches with "solo" for 1 principal performer, but it's still weird.)

Fauna just can't rearrange her schedule around the japanese stream times. Starting at 5 to 6 AM eastern time, that's....rough. Also she doesn't speak any Japanese, so that's also a consideration - she didn't think she'd be able to enjoy herself, and I can't argue with either reason.

Yeah, it's already a hassle if you don't speak Japanese, worse because the hours are murderous for those not in the US or Japan. And based upon the casting list, there's quite a few from the JP branch who also have opted out, so Fauna shouldn't feel too bad that she's not there this time.

Seems perhaps the latter-ish, as she’s got a pinned comment from her latest stream: Pinned by Watson Amelia Ch. hololive-EN @WatsonAmelia 4 minutes ago hello thank you all so much for the kind comments and wishes To sum everything up: I will be concluding my general activities such as streaming, event participation, and regular content. BUT every once in a while, I will be participating in different Hololive projects! This is a new step for every one, so please wait patiently to see where it goes I did get a little emotional as so many memories of amazing times on stream with chat and friends flew through my mind though...sorry about that please read the official post here! (and just to clear up some misconceptions: I will not be joining Staff, but if anyone ever needs any tech help, I will still try my best to assist if I can ) Meanwhile, the Japanese language version of the official announcement specifies that she will remain with the company as a talent, which coupled with her own stickied clarification means that she'll essentially be something like an on-call "contractor" of sorts that still exclusively works with Hololive. —- Philip

One comment I saw over at r/Hololive termed it a "graceful retirement," which is sort of what it sounds like. It's questionable whether this was something she came up with or management came up with, but it sounds like she's being released from regular streaming and event/concert obligations but still free to visit the club house. It's not quite like the deal Brave Group gave to those who chose to part ways with Idol Corp because she doesn't get to walk away with her IP and channel, but it's not a regular graduation where she's pushed out and the door locked behind her.

>It's still incredibly vague what this means. Lots of speculation that >she could be going staff but that seems like wishful thinking. A-chan's seat might still be warm. /s It might not be too wishful, as Cover's official statement does say that she'll remain affiliated with Hololive productions. And they're in the process of building an EN HQ stateside. It's possible that she will be moving to a staff position, just on the EN side of things rather than moving to the JP HQ. What has me curious now is how will the rest of Myth deal with this going forward. Calli's made noises that she's getting worn out and thought of moving on to focus on her music career, while the other three have been taking frequent breaks to deal with medical and personal issues. There's just this general feeling that the constant back-and-forth travel of the last three years is taking its toll.

Kiara has long standing well known medical issues, and unless they’ve gotten worse, I don’t think she’s about to let them hold her back for long.Gura....this is pure speculation, but I think hers may be a past catching up to her sooner than later. Callie has a *lot* tied up in....being Callie right now. *Thats* who’s signed with UMG Japan, who’s had songs in anime productions, etc. she totally needs somebody to just strap her ass down and force her to *not* work for like, a month though. Dad’s a workaholic to her own detriment. Ame’s seemed a bit down for months...I wonder if something else was wrong...maybe related to how she’s now living in a house with her somewhat estranged mother, and a little brother she barely knows. (Speculation based on something I saw in a YouTube comment.) Ina seems extremely happy with everything going on for her, but she’s the only one who doesn’t seem to be running at 100% for weeks on end like the others.

So Ame did a longer stream going over things with more detail (that she was comfortable divulging) and answering some questions people have. Some of the highlights: - She confirmed that her comment to the original video and what Calli said this morning was true that she will not be going staff, said that was never even discussed and if it was she has no knowledge of it. - Also confirmed that while she will be ending regular streaming, she'll still be around for collabs and events (nothing confirmed as of now). Existing merchandise will still be available for purchase and she can assist with tech issues. Basically she is not being subjected to the "unperson" treatment that graduations usually entail for legal reasons. - She says that management had been toying with this idea for graduations for awhile and she's the test case, joked about fans dubbing it the "Ame Way." - Current plans in the next 10 days are for two major collabs ("Valve marathon" and a karaoke stream), spending 3 days trying to finish Elden Ring, working on finishing the TES: Oblivion run she's toyed with on-and-off for the last three years, and working on getting as much done of her existing projects on the Holo EN Minecraft server. - Reiterated that the reason for this change is not due to personal or professional issues, but she won't be sharing it with fans. Amusingly, she confirmed in response to one question in the chat that she is not pregnant. - Overall, the tone was sort of confusing, as usually graduations are treated like the death of a vtuber by fans even if they move on to other agencies or go indie, yet she's doing neither (so far as we know) and will still be available going forward even if she's not streaming regularly. You could compare it to an announcement that a cast regular on your favorite sitcom is retiring from a starring role, but will still be available for cameos.

Tonight was the final HoloMyth collab and things got really emotional towards the end. Kiwawa in particular was taking it pretty hard, but everybody was tearing up and even Calli had mute herself once before it was all over. Even with all of Ame's assurances that she'll still be around and still be in contact with them, there really was a feeling of finality to the last minutes of the stream.

Y'know, I was sitting here thinking about it while I waited for her last stream to start (she was wildly late, as usual, which feels appropriate), and I think what bothers me most isn't her leaving per se. That does bother me, but what troubles me the most is the thought of how it may affect the rest of the operation.I had this long, rambly monologue typed up about Paraguay leaving the League of Nations in 1935, but upon reflection, I don't think a history lecture is called for here, especially to make a point as nebulous as the one I thought I had turned out to be once I got into it. HoloEN isn't anywhere near as rickety as the League was, anyway. Still, I can't help but worry about some of these kids now. --G. -><- Benjamin D. Well, they have an actual support structure now - as I understand it, when Myth debuted, they had basically an incompetent and some people who didn’t speak English very well, which is why Ame had to get everything done herself.Eventually, when the incompetent was booted, things improved considerably, but there was still the problem of managers who didn’t really speak English, plus the whole living in the plague times going on, so Stuff was still pretty rough. But now, there’s an office going up, Ame’s studio is an option, the girls (almost) all seem to have at least basic home 3D setups, their managers are fluent and experienced, and there’s more than just Ame there who knows which end of the computer the power goes in. I think they’ll be fine - though instead of five pillars there’s now four, and that is indeed still...something to monitor.

Even though HoloGTA is over for now, the compilation videos keep coming. Today's treat: Holomems doing nothing to dispel stereotypes about women and driving.

ReGLOSS 3D Live - Reach the top!Note: Unlikely many other lives, the group songs in this one are all legitimately live. This has a certain effect for a group that has only been together for a year and also isn't having any audio tuning employed for those sections. Please enjoy with this in mind.

So unlike the HoloGTA mega-collab, I actually caught wind of the next HoloEN mega-collab early enough that I can mentally prep for it: HoloEN 7 Days to Die collab begins Oct 10 @ 7pm PDT (10pm EDT). So far, Irys is the only one who's said she won't be participating for health/stress reasons.
