Last time, in Holothread 9, Spectrum said:>Ina has run into something that impacted her plans for the next while. >(Likely visa issues) Considering she can't even open her social media, and is communicating via "Kuromane" that would be the most logical reason; without a work visa, doing anything work related would be illegal. I wonder what happened; all of the pressers say something like 'company logistics'. Does that mean somebody dropped the ball? Was it just a scheduling problem and they didn't think she'd be there during renewal?

>I wonder what happened; all of the pressers say something like >'company logistics'. As a sometime military historian, I have an understanding of the word "logistics" that is giving me images I know cannot possibly be what's happening, but entertain me, nonetheless. >> Military standard issue VTubers. What a concept. > >I bet within 5 years we see some branch of the military create their >own VTuber as a recruitment tool. It'll be the Space Force. You know it. I know it. Also, you just reminded me of the time Zoner and I lived in California, and we went over to San Francisco during Fleet Week. They had the Embarcadero fitted out as a sort of long, narrow carnival, if a carnival was made entirely of thinly veiled Navy and Marine Corps recruiting activities. One such activity was a big tent full of PC clusters running Doom II deathmatches, except the game was reskinned to be present-day (so, ca. 1997) United States Marines vs. Non-Specific Enemy Combatants (Vaguely-Arab-Lookin'). It was exactly as wince-worthy as you're thinking right now, and the young Marine running the place was so proud of it. He knew all the buzzwords. "Warfighter". "Readiness". "Asymmetrical Warfare Simulation". Like, back on off'a that a little, son. You're not the strategic planning mastermind of the century, you're the NetWare admin for a fucking Doom II LAN party. Man, that was nearly 30 years ago. That guy is probably Commandant of the Marine Corps now. A bit down the way was another Marine giving talks about various weapons. He was a little more down-to-Earth and, after giving his audience the complete run-down on the M16A2 rifle, allowed in a confidential aside that (paraphrased from memory) "Burst fire sucks and we all want the A1 back." --G. -><- Benjamin D. I still remember when America's Army was a big thing in the FPS shooter community because it was A) free to play and B) you could grab a copy at any Army recruiter by just lying that you were thinking of joining up. Decent game, but it was also the only one I remember that required you to qualify to use a sniper rifle by shooting a perfect score on a rifle range.

You might be getting confused with the US Army esports team, who got dunked on by Twitch chat bringing up American war crimes every few milliseconds to the point where they ditched the program. This happened around the same time as when a sleep-deprived balding British man asked a sitting member of the United States Congress if she knew how to beat Beaver Bother. The internet can still be weird if we fight the corporations enough. --- "She's old, she's lame, she's barren too, // "She's not worth feed or hay, // "But I'll give her this," - he blew smoke at me - // "She was something in her day." -- Garnet Rogers, Small Victory FiMFiction.net: we might accept blatant porn involving the cast of My Little Pony but as God is my witness we have standards.

Ina addresses her unfortunate situationIt's exactly as it says on the tin, Ina did a stream today from her home in the US explaining the situation without going into too much detail (likely for legal reasons). Long and short of it, she's not being kicked out of Japan, but she is barred from anything work-related (streaming, tweeting, etc) for the near future. The lawyers can't give her a date for a return to working besides "early next year" and the advice right now is just to think of this as an unscheduled vacation. The immediate fallout is that all her plans for the remainder of the year are either on-hold or canceled as of now, with no idea when she'll be able to return full-time. So she plans to do some streaming while stateside, then do the tourist thing once she returns to Japan ("visiting an onsen" was one idea based upon the time of year). Major announcements and updates will be passed on to fans through Kumomane-chan, but otherwise she's going to be radio silent until further notice. On a side note: As these things tend to happen, Ina was the one who coined the name "Kumomane" for her new manager as she didn't want to just refer to her as "Ina's manager." Ina asked what her oshi mark was (spider) and then dubbed her "Kumomane," only to then make a totally Ina-cent (if awkward) comment about it being "unfortunate" when said manager told her that the choice of oshi mark was based on her birth date.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-26-24 AT 03:14 PM (EDT) Hololive members having their 3D debuts is the very definition of a two-edged sword. On the one hand, it's hella cool and opens up all kinds of new possibilities for fun and creative streams. On the other hand, it means they're now going to drown forever in the Sea of Required Idol Nonsense, and not have the time, energy, or spoons to do most of them.--G. -><- Benjamin D. This is very old news by now, but back early 2023, Yamaha created an Electone (a synthesizer organ with two manuals and a pedal keyboard) themed after Himemori Luna, who herself plays an ELC-02 model. I say "created" rather than "released" because the Electone LUNA was never offered for sale and I'm not sure they even made more than one. They did do a couple live demos with electone player 楠本 まどか, though! She opened the first with Shiny Smily Story, and the second with Our Bright Parade (which was also the first concert/demo's closer).
