Yesterday Hololive announced a second unit for DEV_IS, their oddball "it's not Hololive JP, except insofar as it is" division. They go by the to-me-slightly-unedifying name "FLOW GLOW" and appear to be leaning hard into the "this unit is an Actual Band" kayfabe, like the Monkees with cute anime girl avatars. Also, one of them is designed by nonco, a name I recognize from a particularly deranged Kancolle comic series that enjoys some notoriety on danbooru. :)

I can't be arsed to chase the six million tweets they put out about this last night into any sort of curated set of links, so here, here's the top of HoloEN's Twitter page, just scroll down, you can't miss it. :)

I'm just looking forward to seeing what kind of lunatics these girls turn out to be- DEV_IS is supposed to be more "idol-y" and focused than JP or EN, but ReGLOSS are madder than a box of frogs, so I suspect the grand Hololive tradition of silliness will continue.

The last few years have shown us that Hololive is a company where the vtubers act more like idols while the idols act more like vtubers.

Well, it's not a huge problem (NPI), but for those of us dinosaurs who are content with 1920×1080 displays, it's kindest to keep image widths below 1500 or so. :)

I don't understand Japanese and haven't read any translations, but I can tell that Chihaya (the black and teal one) is One Of My People: she's a trombone player. (I actually learned about her, and FLOW GLOW in general, from a post on the HoloCure Reddit asking if Kay Yu would upgrade the Doot stamp to actually do more than just doot now.)

I don’t know if anybody is interested in the past lives, or if you want to maintain the kayfabe, but I’ll just say that this wave is *stacked* with talent.

Sakura Miko renames the tiger. (Her visual design is fairly low-key, but Koganei Niko has the kanji for "tiger" in her name twice. Weirdly, she appears to have slit pupils like a housecat's, even though tigers don't.)
