Yesterday was the debut of a new indie, Nimi Nightmare. I don't know why, but she sounds familiar...

I'm not sure if Nimi or Dooby has the thinner kayfabe for their debuts.

I also have to say, I kinda hope she keeps the chibi model in rotation even once she gets her full model, it's a lot of fun

Oh, definitely Dooby. Nimi is a totally different look (and I don't just mean chibi), while Dooby is just new hair clips and a tail.

She probably will, as given the timeline, it'll likely be awhile before she has the full-sized model rigged and ready for its debut.

Watched her second stream tonight and it's really a breath of fresh air compared to where she was even six months ago. I don't want to restart the argument from a month ago, just say that I'm glad that she's found joy in streaming again.

I really feel like this model/outfit belongs to some AU version of Calli, kind of like Olivia is to Ollie. More in common with Demeter's sheltered daughter Kore than with queen of the Underworld Persephone. (It is, however, hella cute.)

It seems to be quite polarizing. Some people in chat and clip comments come off as personally offended, like she's departing from her usual image just to spite them. I think those people may be a little too far down the ole parasocial vortex.

I'm kind of "eh" about it myself, but I don't think it's a bad outfit; I'm just not feelin' it. It happens!

I don't know, my brain went with Calli's reputation as HoloEN's* "Dad" and wound up feeling like this is her way of pulling a "How are you doing, fellow kids?" moment. And I'm cool with it, though that's probably because my favorite facet of her personality is her adorkable side. If you're somebody who thinks of her as the Grim Rapper and the first thing you picture is either her debut dress or her street clothes, then it's a bit hard to see her looking like a young mom trying to fit in with her daughter's friends.

Different strokes and all that.

* And arguably HoloID, but she might have to fight Korone for the title in HoloJP

I noticed that she’s been speaking in a bit of a higher register lately - at least during that stream. I think she might be a little bit tired of being the tough punk one? Or she’s trying - for whatever reason - to be a bit cuter and girly.

Or I’m fully imagining it and it’s just something changed with her audio since the last time I really Capital-L Listened.

There'd be a bit of a feedback effect with the outfit itself being cuter and girlier, I think: she'd choose it when she's in the mood to be cute, and the cuteness of the outfit would help her emphasise the cute performance. She's probably still fine with being the tough punk most of the time, but is glad to now have the option to not be.

Well, didn't Mori get some lung damage from illness? Maybe, like Ironmouse, this is a side effect of that.

(But when Mouse goes into Full Operatic Voice, I can only wonder What Might Have Been.)

Yeah. She caught COVID in New York (as did a number of other members--Breaking Dimensions was a great show, but it seems to have had several unfortunate unforeseen consequences), and by the time she acknowledged that her persistent, violent cough was Not Normal, she had permanent bronchial scars.

That said, I think the Kawaiiope thing is more of an experiment than anything. She's playing around with her image, seeing what kind of mods she can get away with.

In today's "What in the 'Wild Wild World of Sports' was THAT?!" category, we've examples of two creators who've taken different approaches to using Hololive clips:

Our first offering is from Tripl3, whose specialty is animated replays of Hololive clips and released a compilation of such from 2024 last month which the Almighty Algorithm^TM only chose to show me yesterday.

In the other corner is ThickYoroi, whose approach is incorporating snippets of Hololive clips into footage from War Thunder, such as this one with footage of sessions playing the Königstiger (aka "King Tiger").

The former is pretty normal in fan circles and I do enjoy the animations. The latter...I just don't know.

As best as I can tell, the King Tiger one is just a standard War Thunder meme video, only using Hololive girls instead of the more typical meme templates. Looks like the only official War Thunder/Hololive interaction happened about 4 years ago, a couple of the JP girls played apparently.
