LAST EDITED ON Oct-01-25 AT 03:32 PM (EDT) (Someone else should've probably made this but anyway)As usual I'm only watching one show this season. Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! | A Wild Last Boss Appeared! MC is one of the top players of their MMO. Having just completed a user event where they posed their character as the world conquering villain and were defeated (for the good of the server as they had actually unified the continent, stagnating gameplay), they find themselves transmigrated into the game world as their Last Boss tier character, shenanigans ensue. I've read the excellent novel in its entirety (it's even fully released in English) and I'm following around with the manga version already, so this is a welcome adaptation. The series itself feels like it starts a little generic but I promise just give it a little time and it shows its quality (and insanity).

I watched the first episode, with no knowledge of the LN or manga, and enjoyed it.I was also pleased to see that Who Made Me A Princess has been adapted. I wasn't aware it was being animated until I saw three episodes drop over the weekend. (for those unfamiliar, it's a shoujo story hanging on the relationship between an abandoned princess and her father. When she gets a glimpse of her future, she tries to avert it and ends up sending events (and their relationship) off at an angle for either's expectations.

I read up to what was current in the manga of Wild Last Boss many a year ago, and I liked it. Didn’t know it was getting an anime! I’ll have to poke it, thanks~

LAST EDITED ON Oct-01-25 AT 01:23 PM (EDT) Um, this is the fourth quarter. Nobody bothered with Q3, which might have featured Ruri Rocks, Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra, With You and the Rain, Secrets of the Silent Witch, Betrothed to My Sister's Ex, or cour 2 of To Be Hero X, among others.I like both of the Q4 items mentioned so far, along with MIRU: Paths to My Future, which is an anthology centered around MIRU, a robot with time travel abilities and the capacity to calculate potential futures and intervene. MIRU was built to save humanity by changing the past. Change a policy here, save a diplomat there, pretty soon it makes a big difference! Peter Eng -- Insert humorous comment here.

Change a policy >here, save a diplomat there, pretty soon it makes a big difference! > I'm probably the only one here who's reminded of James Gunn's "Bill Johnson" series from Analog, though presumably without the post-mission amnesia that kept those stories episodic. (I've sometimes thought that Bill would fit well at Residence 51 from the My Apartment Manager is not an Isekai Character on Bob's forums, alongside David Banner, Andrea Thomas, Ralph Hinkley, Team KITT, the Humanidyne Human Investigation Team, and F.G. Superman.)

Well, the weekend will probably drop a ton of neat stuff as usual, but I feel like getting one in before the rush:May I Ask for One Final Thing? Scarlet has been engaged to the second prince since before they were born. As such, she's watched him grow from a childish brat to a petty teenage tyrant. And because it's unladylike, she's absorbed his cruelty all these years. Then he breaks the engagement during a party, as the prince always does in the villainess genre, and Scarlet asks for one final thing. "May I knock that bitch on her ass?" I'm liking this one because Scarlet isn't the usual villainess in this genre. She's clearly been taking classes from the School of Butt-Kicking, and isn't going to rely on marrying a prince for anything. No, any prince who wants her hand is going to have to work to keep up with her. Peter Eng -- Insert humorous comment here.

> May I Ask for One Final Thing?I should probably watch this as Arc 1 is quite good and she's an excellent protagonist. It's just a shame that the second Arc completely lost me with how boring and unnecessary it felt. Yeah, her story wasn't technically over by the end of Arc 1 but it could've been and more hot guys joining the cast and the shenanigans in another country didn't appeal.

>Yeah, her >story wasn't technically over by the end of Arc 1 but it could've been >and more hot guys joining the cast and the shenanigans in another >country didn't appeal. Argh. That sounds like the author lost the thread. I can't imagine Scarlet as a bishonen collector. She's more the sort that finally admits that there's one guy who's good enough for her, and that, yeah, she kind of likes him. Preferably in a maximum of three arcs. Peter Eng -- I get the impression that manga authors are not rewarded for plotting an ending to a series, which is a bad thing.

She was kind of already collecting them through Act 1, they just weren't necessarily making strong cases for being a love interest. Anyway yeah, Act 1 finishes in Volume 7 but then immediately within the volume kicks off into the start of Act 2. It starts bridging into it right away. I ended up finally dropping the series late Volume 9 when I had enough. >I get the impression that manga authors are not rewarded for plotting >an ending to a series, which is a bad thing. (Don't mind me, I am just going to be extremely bitter in the corner at the large number of recently fan TL'd GL manga that blatantly got axed and had to rush their plots to tie up in Volume 2 or 3 to 'finish' the series)

I went in nervously, since I very much enjoy the manga and was concerned about the adaptation. The adaptation of the first episode was accurate, perhaps a little too much. The first fight wasn't really taking advantage of the format, I believe. Not bad, but not quite what I was hoping for. Fortunately, the characterisation came through and episode 2 is more dynamic. There's a few spots here or there where I can see things being cut, but nothing significant - just odd moments that aren't too plot relevant. The opening credits strongly suggest that this will just be covering the first arc, which is certainly the strongest. These two episodes covered 6 1/2 issues of the manga, and the first arc is 36 issues, so that suggests a single cour will take us there comfortably. So I'm quite happy, and would just like to ask Scarlet for one more thing: kick their asses!

Well, Saturday's over, and for the most part, what I'm watching is good, but not ground-breaking. We've got a Idols are saving the world theme in SI-VIS: The Sound of Heroes, a Weakest Hero that I'm mainly watching because there have been several YouTube read-throughs of The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest, something that seems to be Iyashikei in Touring After the Apocalypse, and another romcom to add to my usual pile.Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider, on the other hand...can you imagine eighth-grader syndrome becoming a midlife crisis? Just having the protagonist be old enough to drink is unusual, but I'm hoping they explore Tojima's mental state a bit more along the way. Peter Eng -- Insert humorous comment here.

Currently, I'm only watching Gachiakuta, which is a holdover from the last season. That being said, I was bored enough to watch Digimon Beatbreak this morning, and it's surprisingly decent... hits many of the post-cyberpunk story elements I've been looking for. And the lead "partner Digimon" looks to be a complete chaos gremlin. =)

Okay I lied, I'm actually watching two series this season.Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu | A Mangaka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace Because I'm also reading the manga for this. Slice of Life/CGDCT anime about a crybaby mangaka and the girls around her (her assistant, her editor, other mangaka she knows, etc). It's just cute and fun watching her being a blorbo but still (vaguely, barely miss) her deadlines and work through other issues. Very light GL, feels more like just being teased than anything that will actualize any time soon.

As usual, I'm watching more anime than I really have time for, but most of what I'd recommend has already been listed. However, I want to add one bit of cuteness:Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family! They laughed at them at the academy. Suzume Yobane insisted that building a humanoid robot was possible and practical. Enji Kamisato knew he could program a better combat AI than anything currently available. She was right about the hardware, he was right about the software. And Alma is the result. (ALMA is an acronym, but the visuals and the subtitles don't match, so I have no idea what it means.) Alma concludes that she is their daughter. (Maybe they didn't need the biomonitoring sensor suite and advanced data analysis?) So, they now have a family of two socially awkward geniuses and a robot daughter who is still learning how to be human. Hilarity ensues. Peter Eng -- Insert humorous comment here.

> Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! | A Wild Last Boss Appeared!Season's over. Very by the books adaptation, no filler, competently done, no complaints. Probably around an 8/10, keeping in mind the series does have a slow start and doesn't start getting quite into the insanity until later on.

I saw a review of Classless Hero right as the last episode aired and gave it a try.It does actually hit beats that amuse me and I binged through it quite quickly. The set-up is that in the setting, when you are a kid, you can go to a temple and be told what class you are, and you can then easily learn the 'skills' that fit with the class, setting you up for your career in life. These start out general, but there are more advanced classes you may qualify for later (and not necessarily much later). Arel, when tested, has no class. He is classless, and therefore assumed to be incompetent at everything. Actually, it means he can learn any skill, it's just harder. Given current tropes you may think you see where this is going, and sometimes you're right. But it's actually good at subverting this. For example, when Arel sets out to go to the city of mages and learn magic, it hits a lot of the beats of the earlier episode when he set out to be a swordsman. However, the writer avoids this repetition by having every beat turn out differently, keeping events fresh. It also helps that Arel is snarky and his outer voice isn't so far from my inner voice. More than once I commented on what was going on and then he'd say almost exactly what I had in mind.
