It's a month old but I just heard about it. Classic Sunrise animation.

A love letter not just to Mobile Suit Gundam, but to its fans.

It was a decent short film. Nice to see Suletta and Machu, of course.

The part with the kid cheering for G Gundam and the confused adult going 'whut, not muh gundamu' was pretty amusing.

I'm looking forward to the rumors about the next full-fledged anime season- according to the rumor mill the mech designs will be by the Linebarrels/Getter Devolution/ULTRAMAN guy, and the plot will be about fighting shape-changing aliens... in a way that's different to the also-previewed God Eater-esque video game. Which, funnily enough, is also getting a lot of 'whut, not my gundamu' responses from people.

They just have to make it not like Majestic Prince, which was a similar 'real robots with genetic engineering and dark secrets vs humanoid aliens' show with character designs by Hirai.

I'm not as familiar with Gundam as some other series/settings, so there was a lot in this I didn't recognize... but there's a lot that's purely about fans and how we appreciate and interact with the media we love, and that part transcends any particular fandom.

The 'roll call' of the series protagonists (and Hathaway) and their Gundams was...SO good. Uuuggghhhh...!

And of course the only one not smiling was frigging Setsuna~
