I found some fancy ground beef (Schweid & Sons butcher's blend) on sale in one-pound blocks at the supermarket. At first I thought, What am I gonna do with a whole pound of ground beef now? and passed it by, but it was such a good deal I felt compelled to pick one up.And then I had an idea!
Behold eight two-ounce slider patties. A King's Hawaiian roll weighs one ounce, and the patty will lose some mass while cooking, so one slider = one meal at current cargo hold capacity. They're separated by parchment paper, so I can freeze them without having them all stick back together into a single chunk. I might be starting to get into the "meal prep" trend, gods help me. --G. pizza experiments still forthcoming, I have to clean those pans. speaking of which, anybody want to buy me a 3"×6" Detroit-style pan? :) -><- Benjamin D. LAST EDITED ON Nov-30-25 AT 05:16 AM (EST) In my opinion, it's not meal prep until you've gotten really specific. "Garlic-Ginger Hamburg Steak with Scallions," or something like that. (I just made that up, it might be terrible.)Right now, you could do anything with the patties - a shake of seasoned salt, fifteen to thirty minutes in a couple teaspoons of soy sauce and minced garlic, fry in bacon fat before putting the bacon on top, or use corn starch and water to make a quick gravy out of the fat and serve with bread or rice on the side - and end up with a different slider each time. (The second and third ones are made up again, but probably not terrible; the fourth was my dinner this week, although slightly larger.) Peter Eng -- Insert humorous comment here.
