#0, Mechanical fun

One of the thing's that's always amazed me about the Oh My Goddess manga is Kousuke Fujishima's master of of both character design AND mechanical drawing. For those of you that don't know or haven't noticed, his motorcycle and car drawings are always draftsman-perfect. If they're actual existant machines then they're perfect down to the tired treads (I know because I've checked his Ducati drawings against the real thing, ditto with the chapter with the Shelby Mustang rally car) and if they're fictional (like the enduro tricyle or the tiny hillclimbing bike) then they're still convincing. I've been riding and playing with motorcycles for over ten years and Fujishima-sensei has yet to depict something I found unlikely, farfetched, or even sketchy. The attention to detail is always wonderful.

(I'm going to get to the point here any minute now.)

One reason I look forward to subsequant GW chapters is my confidence in the Eyrie writers to translate this mechanical fetish into prose. Gryphon's recent interest in racing (even if it is NASCAR, which I find terminally boring. Give me World Superbike or Formula 1 any day) further improves my estimation of the GW future.

Incidentally, the OMG anime did not do nearly as well in this mechanistic aspect. I hope that the Eyrie folks will take note of the superior depth of story and greater visual detail evident in the manga. (You DO read the comic monthly, RIGHT? ^_^)

Woo, off to Chinese class, too late to check for typos.
