#0, Found Another NXE Reference...

...in someone else's NGE fic. I had stumbled onto "Angels, Heaven, and Earth" by Ken Arromdee and in chapter seven there is the following passage. The scene is a Tokyo-3 video arcade, and Akuma is the Obligatory New Pilot:

"I wish you luck, Shinji", said Akuma.

Shinji considered that, replaying the words in his mind to look for a
strain of sarcasm, but finally understanding that Akuma really did mean it.
"Thanks for listening", he replied. "Oh, hey", he added, "you beat someone's
high score."

"I did? Oh yeah. I didn't notice; it's hard to do two things at the same
time _and_ watch the score. I wonder who 'DJC' is?"

Was the Order to Slay given because of the Sign of the Goat found on the ancient Roman crypt beneath the cathedral, or because the Dark Man of the Haute Vienne Coven spoke the Three Words?

That's cute, but someone needs to tell Ken that, in dialogue, all the punctuation goes inside the quotation marks, including the commas.

I guess it goes without saying that the Evangelion installment of Drunkard's Walk is going to have an NXE tribute, as well, because if it weren't for NXE, I'd've never gotten into NGE... or Symphony, for that matter.

Damn... I'm just now recalling that. Hey, Gryphon, you wouldn't happen to know Ken, would you?

Not as such. The name's familiar, and I think we've probably met once, but I'm not sure of the context and I'm not in regular contact with him or anything.

Akuma's curiously well-spoken. Perhaps the text merely translated his usual "mmmMM-!" into English...

...oh, wait. Never mind. :)

<chuckle> Actually, it's Akuma Masaki. Son of Tenchi and Ryoko. 'Twas a crossover, y'see.

Oh, and Akuma had a small problem as a pilot, as it turned out -- the Light Hawk Wings registered as an AT field to the Magi...

Damn, I gotta re-read that one. No offense to Gryph, it's as good a read as NXE.

Oh, I wouldn't say that. But it was okay.
