Hi,

Just finished reading NXE:TMP here in Paris. I am currently in a position where such an escape into fantasy is really vital, and I was given one beyond my wildest hopes. Congratulations and thank you!

Ok, here is my small remark. Xerxes french is, err, quite unique. Here are two translations for both bits (the curteous, and the not so curteous one) that will be flowless french equivalent.

So, for the grand Tacos fest, here is my dubbing proposal:

"Ici Xerxes. Pour célébrer son ouverture, la cantine du fort Défiance vous propose la Nuit du Tacos. Venez goûter à l'aventure et déguster les saveurs du sud en notre compagnie. Du tofu épicé sera proposé à notre personnel végétarien."

Now, for the grand demon insulting session:

"Ici Xerxes, le coeur du réacteur est interdit à tout rejeton maléfique issu des abysses infernales. Les forces de sécurités sont actuellement en route afin de nous débarasser de votre gros cul de pute démoniaque. Veuillez nous excuser pour la gêne éventuelle occasionnée."

I am particularily proud of my translation for 'hellbitch ass' (a toughy that one!)

By the way, Gryph, I still don't get how the word "ostie" (ostia) landed in your traduction? Oh well... :)

Keep up the good work,

Alex "Crocal" Betis

Well, good, I'm glad you liked it. :)

That's because they're Québec French, not French French.

I had more or less guessed so, but, well, I couldn't resist. Typical french attitude. Haw, well. I guess you can't fight your genes. :)

I guess that accounts for the ostia part too.

Tabernacle! (in québécois in the text)

Credit where it's due dep't: that translation was provided by Dave Lieberman, which is what got him into the "Linguistics" credit. :)
