The special relationship Moloch, Prince of Fire, had with the rest of the infernal court in the NXE backstory, the fact that he was the only one among all the various princes and princesses of Hell that Lucifer could really trust - Satan's wingman, in effect - was prompted by a line in a Don McLean song. For, as McLean told us in the, er, abstract lyrics to his 1971 hit "American Pie", fire is the Devil's only friend.
