#0, TV Tropes needs your help!
Posted by Zemyla on Feb-03-09 at 08:21 PM
I have created a tropes page for NXE. However, I can't do this alone. I need some help to add tropes to the page, and add NXE to trope pages it references. I also need (among other things) a quote at the top of the page that exemplifies NXE.

I'm hoping eventually NXE will become trope overdosed (over 100 links from external pages to it).

Er... NXE wasn't really a television series, you know. It was just pretending to be one for comic effect.

Doesn't really matter. The site also has references to movies, books, comics (print & web), and real life.

There's already a UF page...

Clearly these people need to focus. Or buy a new domain name. :)

I'll be over here feeling faintly nervous, having reached the age where my paranoia about the legal hell I've spent the last 18 years (ye gods) building around myself is beginning to outweigh my delight at any sort of exposure...

"Fiction Tropes" would probably be more accurate at this point, yes. But you of all people should know how early decisions continue to affect (and sometimes restrict) things years down the road.

I've found that page to be at times insightful, other times infuriating (it gets very regressive, and closed-loop over there) because it does kind of have an echo-chamber vibe to it now - kind of "insider" - which makes it useful if you're writing yes, but at the same time...

Salt. As in, big grain. Some entries are useful (Magnificent Bastard, some of the ones related to that), others.... can get so in the weeds it's like "who cares?" after a while. The nostalgia trip one can get from it though is nice. If the postings are to be believed, some people writing there have some industry or publishing experience...

Last but not least, sometimes they let politics drip into the articles, and I find it rather annoying. YMMV.
